The Italian Normal Route from the modern Gonnella Refuge: lovers of wild spaces, this is the perfect itinerary for you!!!
The “ Pope’s route” opened by Achille Ratti, the future Pius XI, is the normal route for those who start out from Italy. The itinerary threads its way over the SW slope though the Dome glacial labyrinth and gives you the rare chance of experiencing dawn on the delicate, razor-sharp Bionnassay ridge.

Requested technical level:
Technical difficulty grade PD (poco difficile - little difficulty).
A long, isolated and purely glacial itinerary that requires good training in altitude walking. No particular technical difficulties but some short steep stretches (45°) of rise need good crampon experience.
Cost: € 600 each (group of 2 persons per Guide)
€ 1150 private formula (Guide plus client)
Fee includes: Courmayeur/Chamonix - Lake Combal, Val Veny transfer, Alpine Guide assistance and group materials.
Fee does not include: cable cars, participant and Guide refuge full board and all items not specified in “Fee includes”.
The Guide’s refuge full board, train or cableway tickets are debited to participants.
If itinerary changes occur which are not attributable to the organisers (e.g. bad weather, inadequate technical ability of participants, etc.) any extra costs incurred will be debited to participants.
The Mont Blanc Refuge reservation has to be made well in advance.
Enrolments are accepted on a non-refundable 30% down payment of total cost. The balance must be paid before the beginning of activities.
